Connor O’Brien Announced as Aston Martin Racing Academy Driver

Hertfordshire teenager, Connor O’Brien has been announced as an Aston Martin Racing Academy Driver for the upcoming 2019 season.

O’Brien was selected from a list of nearly 100 applicants for one of only 23 places on a gruelling evaluation day, which took place at Prodrive, Aston Martin’s UK headquarters in Oxfordshire. In a challenging day of car simulator tests, fitness tests and media presentations, Connor impressed a panel of judges which included Aston Martin factory driver, Darren Turner and Paul Howarth, team principle of Aston Martin Racing, to see him eventually be honoured with the title of Aston Martin Racing Academy Driver.

Connor will make his debut as an Aston Martin Racing Academy Driver in the British GT Championship, Silver GT4 category in the brand new Aston Martin with Optimum Motorsport, on April 22nd at Oulton Park in Cheshire. The seven round British GT Championship visits 6 world famous race tracks, including an international round at Spa-Francorchamps in July.

‘I’m so proud to be representing Aston Martin as a Racing Academy Driver this season. It’s a world class manufacturer and I’m really excited to work with them and see what the season brings.” Connor said.
